GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - Bishop Walter Hurley helped Catholics in Grand Rapids celebrate Ash Wednesday at St. Andrews Cathedral. The mass started at 7:00 a.m. celebrating the start of Lent. People attending the mass received the traditional ashes on their foreheads to replicate ancient penance. The Lenten season lasts 40 days wrapping up on Easter Sunday March 31st.
