KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WZZM) -- Relatives and friends of the parents and the three children killed in a Kalamazoo apartment fire gathered Wednesday evening to grieve together.

"The community coming together as one instead of pulling apart," says great-great grandmother Gloria Tucker.

"I believe this was a good thing," agreed great-great grandmother Jacqueline Fullerton. "Bring families and loved ones together."

A fire Monday afternoon at the Interfaith Apartments in Kalamazoo killed three-year-old twins Tevin and Teniyah Williams, and their one-year-old sister Tyonna Henderson.

"We are not here to figure out why it happened, but because it did happen," one minster told the crowd gathered to pray.

Investigators say their mother, Jonetta Woods, left the children home alone before the fire started in their two-story town house.

"I'm just holding on, trying to hold onto sanity," says Tucker. "I know everyone's days are numbered, but when you lose a baby.  A baby!"

Investigators from the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety have not determined how the fire started or if they will recommend any charges against the mother of the dead children.
