MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, Mich. (WZZM) - The shooting death of a Muskegon Heights teen early Saturday morning has longtime city resident David Johnson calling for an end to violence and crime.

While working on his car Thursday, Johnson says the crime problem has grown since he was a teen. It's caused neighbors to move away and Johnson says community members can't wait any longer to get involved.

"It is everybody's business and everybody's job," says Johnson.

Johnson calls on parents and families to have strict accountability. He wants neighbors to build stronger bonds, and is asking for more activities to keep youth and young adults engaged in positive activities. "When people are bored they get into trouble."
