GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - A small number of people who need a bone marrow transplant find a perfect match. Monday night, a West Michigan brewery tried to increase those chances by holding a Be The Match registry drive.
All February long, the Mitten Brewing Company has donated a portion of its sales to the bone marrow registry program. The money helps offset the cost of testing potential donors.
The Be The Match registry matches patients needing transplants to fight blood related diseases with donors. 10 million people are on the registry, but more are needed.
Marrow donors and recipients were at Monday night's event to share their stories. To register for the be the match program, you have to be between 18 and 44 years old.
