GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- The Poo-Pourri line of products promise not to cover up bathroom smells, but to trap them at the source: inside the toilet. You simply spray the toilet water before you go, and no one else will ever know.
We tested out Poo-Pourri in the "Heavy Doody" scent with 98.7 WFGR's Andy and Dave, two guys who are quite open to talking about their bathroom habits.
The convenient pocket-sized spray comes in other scents like "Poo-Pourri" and "Loo-Pourri" for the ladies, and "Royal Flush" and "Trap-A-Crap" for the guys.
The directions say to spray the toilet water 4 to 6 times to cover the entire surface. The essential oils are suppose to form a protective odor shield preventing smells from escaping.
Not wanting to have anything to do with the "testing" of this product, I left it up to Dave and Andy to proceed with their daily "doodies" and let me know how things worked out.
Andy gave it a B-. He said it was an excellent deodorizer and did a good job covering up the smell, but it wasn't 100%. He said some of the odor escaped. Dave on the other hand, gave it an A-. He thought it did a better job, but again, it wasn't perfect.
Andy did say he'd choose the Poo-Pourri over an air-freshener, and definitely worth trying out in your household.
Poo-Pourri has gotten good reviews online and did a decent job on Dave's "doody".
We found it at a gift store in downtown Douglas, Michigan called "It Is What It Is" for $7.99. You can also order it from their website.
