Asheville, NC (Sports Network) - Eric Ferguson scored 17 points and Tre Bussey
added 12 with nine rebounds, as Georgia Southern notched a 60-44 win over
Wofford in the first round of the Southern Conference Tournament.
C.J. Reed shot a miserable 4-of-16 from the field and finished with 10 points
for the Eagles (14-18), who will next meet top-seeded Davidson in Saturday's
quarterfinals.
Indiana Faithfull and Spencer Collins each scored 10 for Wofford (13-19),
which had won three of its last four to conclude the regular season. The
Terriers shot a dismal 34 percent on Friday, including 3-of-20 from beyond the
arc.
Wofford held an 18-16 lead after a Collins layup with just over seven minutes
remaining in the first half, but didn't score again as Georgia Southern ripped
off the final 14 points and took a 30-18 advantage to the break. The Terriers
got only as close as eight in the second half.
