IONIA, Mich. (WZZM) -- The Ionia County Sheriff's deputies have arrested a Greenville man for allegedly soliciting a minor for sex.
Investigators say Gary Michael Miller, 19, made contact with a 14-year-old child online. Authorities believe Miller likely contacted other children in the Belding and Greenville area for sex, and may have sent them pornography.
Detective Phillip Hesche has been leading the investigation, and says this is a good time to talk to your kids about who they "friend" or "follow." "Often times, kids are accepting friend requests on Facebook, or following on Twitter, that they don't even know who the person is. Once that link is established, they've essentially given that person access to all of their photographs, and all of their links...It's a very easy way for someone to gain a whole lot of information about an individual."
Det. Hesche also says, your kids may be getting on the internet more ways than you think. Don't just worry about keeping a close eye on your computer, but also cell phones, iPods, and even video game consoles.
Ionia County Sheriff's deputies say Miller uses the alias names of: Gary Lee Damon Miller, Gary Lee Miller, and Gary Lee Damon.
The Ionia County Sheriff Office has been working with the Montcalm County Sheriff Office on this case. If you have a child that has had inappropriate contact with Gary Michael Miller, please contact Detective Phillip Hesche of the Ionia County Sheriff Office at (616) 527-5737.
