Davenport University, Caledonia. (March 20, 2013)
CALEDONIA, Mich. (WZZM) -- The weather is to blame for the cancellation of the first ever events at West Michigan's newest sports venue. However, Davenport University still held an official dedication ceremony for the new farmers athletic complex on 68th Street SE.
Farmers Insurance donated 17 acres on which the complex was built. The new complex includes baseball and softball stadiums and eight tennis courts.
"As we grow athletically and academically and as we grow as a university, our students and student athletes have first class facilities. And this is as fine a facility for baseball, softball and tennis in the entire state," said Davenport President, Rick Pappas.
Davenport's baseball and softball teams were supposed to play Wednesday afternoon, but the snow that fell this week, forced those games to be postponed.
