GRANDVILLE, Mich. (WZZM) -- West Michigan's first Cabela's opens Thursday morning. The 88,000 sq. ft. store is the third in the state and hired 200 people. Several eager shoppers were camped out overnight to be among the first to see it.
"I rushed here right after work." At 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, Matt Kruchowski claimed the right to be the first to enter Cabela's doors for Thursday's grand opening. "I won't see my wife for two days, but it's gonna be worth it... I didn't give her an option to say no. Is that kind of bad?" Kruchowski told WZZM 13.
Kruchowski won't be the first in the store though, thousands of others beat him to it on Wednesday. "It's hard to put a specific number on it," said Cabela's Spokesman Wes Remmer, "but we've had a good turnout here for our club card day... and that's a good sign for (Thursday's) grand opening."
Officers are on site until Thursday's crowd dies down and customers like Kruchowski return to their wives. "This is how to live life to the fullest."
Grandville's Cabela's will have a ribbon cutting at 10:45 and the doors will open at 11 a.m.
