Countryside Greenhouse opens its state-of-the-art facility April 1.
ALLENDALE, Mich. (WZZM) -- The Michigan Department of Agriculture is recognizing one of West Michigan's largest greenhouses.
Countryside Greenhouse is getting certified for following environmentally friendly standards. MAEAP certification was developed in the late 90s by a group of farmers, state and federal agencies, as well as environmental groups.
The program works to help farmers come up with a plan that helps prevent pollution, or reduces pollution risks. It could include safe storage of pesticides, water use, or soil conservation.
Countryside Greenhouse is expected to have a certificate presentation ceremony at 10 a.m. at its new Allendale location.
