KENT COUNTY, Mich. (WZZM) -- Spring is officially here and with the warmer temperatures, many minds turn to gardening and landscaping.

Unfortunately, recent years have brought unwanted plants to your lawn in addition to the perennials.

Today, at the Howard Christensen Nature Center, a two hour class will be held discussing invasive species and how to protect against them.

Laurie Grant, Master Naturalist explained; "First, you have to learn to identify it and then you have to learn how to get rid of it; which we'll be covering in the class. And, I dare say; almost everybody has something growing on their property, if you have much of it, that's invasive and they don't even know it's there."

The class will be held from 10 am to noon today.

The Howard Christensen Nature Center is located on Red Pine Drive NW in Kent County.
