GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - The Grand Rapids Downtown Market Tuesday announced a new tenant, the sixth for the Market.

Field and Fire is described as a "high-end artisan bakery." A news release says Field and Fire was created by Shelby Kibler, a West Michigan native who once managed the famous Zingerman's bakery in Ann Arbor. Kibler has also baked in Portland, California and studied in Paris.

Kibler said:"The food scene in Grand Rapids is flourishing, with new craft breweries and farm-to-table restaurants, which makes it a great market for my style of artisan baking. Everything will be baked fresh, on-site, every morning. Imagine baskets filled with warm, crusty loaves right from the oven, crackling as they cool, it will add to the complete sensory experience within the Market."

The $30 million dollar Downtown Market is set to open this summer. Promoters describe it as a "self-sustaining, LEED-certified, mixed-use facility that brings together production, distribution, marketing and education about local foods and growing. It will incorporate entrepreneur and experimentation space for both emerging and experienced food artisans and merchants including a 24-vendor Market Hall, large outdoor farmer's market and two full-service restaurants, one of which will be a micro-brewery."

Grand Rapids city commissioners Tuesday were expected to approve a a liquor and entertainment license for the market.
