(WZZM) - On April 10, 1933 Michigan was the first state to ratify the 21st Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which ended Prohibition and repealed the 18th Amendment.

And eighty years later, Grand Rapids is Beer City, USA!

According to the Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America, Michigan's wine and spirits industry supports a total of over 40,000 jobs statewide.

The 21st Amendment is the only amendment to repeal another amendment, and the only amendment ratified by the state convention process.

Thanks to the Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America for the history lesson and reminder.
