Voters approve school millages, bond issues

GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- All but a few millage requests and bond proposals passed as West Michigan voters went to the polls Tuesday.

WZZM 13 News followed the results of 31 different ballot measures in seven counties.  Here are the county-by-county results:

Kent County

Voters in the Godfrey-Lee Public School district approved a $2.2 million bond issue, with the money going to school repairs and construction, new buses, athletic facility improvements and better technology.  The measure passed 118-79.

Grandville Public Schools received voter approval for a $75.2 million dollar bond proposal, with the money going to school repairs and construction, new buses, athletic facility improvements and better technology. The measure passed 3,959-1,697.

Voters in the Wyoming Public School district voted down a request for a $53 million dollar bond issue.  The money would have gone to school improvements, better energy conservation, a performing arts center and classrooms, and new athletic facilities.  The measure failed on a 1,477-1,268 vote.

Ottawa County

  • Allendale Township zoning referendum - approved, 1,018-449.
  • Holland Township airport operating millage - defeated, 993-986.
  • Zeeland Township airport operating millage - defeated, 458-444.
  • Grand Haven Area Public Schools operating millage renewal - approved, 1,906-601.
  • Hudsonville Public Schools sinking fund millage - approved, 1,436-658.
  • West Ottawa Public Schools operating millage renewal - approved, 1,749-648.
  • Zeeland Public Schools operating millage renewal - approved, 2,210-602.
  • Zeeland Public Schools public recreation millage renewal - approved, 1,971-843.

Barry County

  • Hastings cemetery millage - approved, 453-100.
  • Delton-Kellogg Schools bond proposal 1 - approved, 1,094-657.
  • Delton-Kellogg Schools bond proposal 2 - approved, 980-765.

Allegan County

  • Cheshire Township operating millage increase - failed, 37-26.
  • Otsego fire truck bond proposal - approved, 218-86.
  • Fennville Public Schools operating millage renewal - approved, 573-177.
  • Fennville Public Schools sinking fund millage - approved, 408-343.
  • Saugatuck Public Schools bond proposal - approved, 659-462.
  • Saugatuck Public Schools sinking fund millage - approved, 656-465.
  • Saugatuck Public Schools operating millage renewal - approved, 837-288.

Kalamazoo County

  • Kalamazoo County Transportation Authority millage renewal -- approved, 11,747-4,499.
  • Kalamazoo Public Schools bond proposal - approved, 5,044-2,219.
  • Vicksburg Community Schools operating millage renewal - approved, 958-363.

Oceana County

  • Hart city council (partial term) - Ira William Hoekwater Jr. defeated Craig Stace, 66-39.
  • Shelby Public Schools bond proposal - approved, 430-333.
  • Shelby Public Schools operating millage renewal - approved, 447-320.

Mason County

  • Ludington Area Schools sinking fund millage - approved, 1,019-347.
  • Ludington Area Schools bond proposal - approved, 1,023-343.
