Suspicious substance at bank identified

MIDDLEVILLE, Mich. (WZZM) -- UPDATE 6:00 a.m. The substance sent through the tube at the Hastings State Bank Drive Thru has been identified as Talcum Powder.  The incident remains under investigation.

Friday night information: Four employees are quarantined inside a Barry County bank, hours after closing time, after the discovery of a suspicious substance.

The Barry County Sheriff's Department says the unknown substance was sent through a pneumatic tube Friday at the Hastings City Bank on Arlington Street in Middleville.

A hazardous materials team from Allegan County is on the scene investigating. The four employees are being held for safety reasons until they are cleared.
