GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - A Wyoming man is the second person in just two months to fall four stories inside a stairwell at the B.O.B. in downtown Grand Rapids.

The victim, Kevin O'Brien, was taken to the hospital in critical condition just before 2 a.m. on Sunday, making him the third person to fall down the open stairwell inside the bar since 2009.

One woman carrying flowers to mark Mother's Day, felt sympathy for O'Brien's family as she walked past The B.O.B.

"It's a very sad day for the mother of the person," said.

Just before 2 a.m., police found 36 year old Kevin O'Brien at the bottom of a stairwell. Witnesses told investigators that O'Brien fell four stories.

"We know it's a bar people can get drunk and they fall down," the woman said.

Not the first time either. In fact, just last month 21 year old Zachary Bunting fell down several stories and died at The B.O.B. while celebrating his birthday. In 2009, another man had a similar fate.

"If it happens once, twice, three times, no let management do something about it," she said.

However, others say it's the customers, not the bar that has to make better decisions.

"There's only so much you can do to prevent accidents when you have somebody that's drinking," says Doreen Missina, who lives across the street from The B.O.B.

"People are responsible for their choices when they get drunk, but this is a place where people drink alcohol and there is a big drop down there," says another woman.  "I don't think it should shut down, I think it's a great place, but put some stronger netting there so people won't get hurt," says

Police are still investigating the latest incident.

At this point, it's unclear if or how much O'Brien had been drinking.
WZZM 13 was unable reach the Bob's management for comment.
