GENEVA TWP., Mich. (WZZM) - A Kalamazoo couple was injured Wednesday afternoon after being thrown from their Harley Davidson motorcycle in a crash.

Mark Wildig, 63, of Kalamazoo, was not wearing a helmet and suffered head and body injuries.  His passenger, Virginia Rutherwood, 62, of Kalamazoo, was wearing a helmet and suffered broken bones.  Neither person's injuries are considered life-threatening.

Investigators with the Van Buren County Sheriff say that a car driven by a 25-year-old man from Arkansas was traveling eastbound on CR 388, when he slowed for another vehicle that was turning in front of him.  Wildig and Rutherford were also traveling east on CR 388 and couldn't slow down and hit the back of the vehicle.

The man in the vehicle and his three passengers were not injured.  Wildig was cited for failing to stop in assured clear distance.
