GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- Police are investigating a woman's report that a man tried to sexually assault her Friday morning.
The incident happened between 7:30 and 8 a.m. Friday in the 2000 block of Eastcastle Dr. SE, just north of the city boundary with Kentwood.
The woman told officers she was having trouble with her vehicle and pulled into a parking lot. The suspect drove by her and offered a ride, which the woman declined.
According to police, the suspect then approached the woman on foot and tried to speak with her, which she declined. When the woman tried to walk away, the man physically assaulted her and tried to remove her clothing. The woman told investigators she was able to fight him off and ran to a safe location.
The suspect is described as a black man, possibly in his 30s, 5'8" to 5'10" with medium build, a mustache and closely-trimmed beard. The man was said to be wearing a black short-sleeve t-shirt, dark pants or jeans and a dark baseball cap with a red polo horse emblem on the front.
The suspect vehicle is described as a black four-door car with a similar body style to a Mercury Sable or Ford Taurus.
