(WZZM) New York, NY -  Higher body mass index (BMI) and obesity rates in adults may have something to with having ADHD as a child.

In a study out of New York University researchers found a strong link between childhood Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and adult obesity.

The study followed more than 200 children with ADHD throughout their adult lives and found that men with were twice as likely to experience a higher BMI and obesity rate if they had ADHD as a child compared to those who did not.

Dr. Sarah Lappe, a pediatrician at the Cleveland Clinic did not take part in the study, but she agrees. To see what Dr. Lappe says click the video link.
