UPDATE - 4:30 p.m. Thursday
TROY TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM) -- Newaygo County Sheriff's deputies have located the body of Luke Eaves and authorities say he died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Eaves' body was found around 1:30 p.m. Thursday near his pickup truck, in a wooded area near 6 Mile Road and Baldwin Avenue.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident remains under investigation pending an autopsy.
TROY TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM) -- The Newaygo County Sheriff is looking for help in finding a man missing since last Friday.
Luke William Eaves, 40, left his residence in the 7900 block of West Lincoln about 4:30pm and hasn't been heard from since. Investigators say Luke sent a text about the same time to his wife saying "goodbye" and then sent another one to his stepdaughter saying the same thing.
He is believed to have driven off in his 1999 blue Ford F-150. He has not been at work or any other of his regular establishments since either.
The Newaygo County Sheriff's Office say they have stepped up patrols in the area along the back roads and two tracks in an attempt to locate the vehicle. We have been assisted by the Oceana County Sheriff's Office, Department of Natural Resources, and the Michigan State Police Aviation Unit.
