ROCKFORD, Mich. (WZZM) -- A lot of kids are wanting the heavily advertised Ice Cream Magic. It claims you can shake your way to homemade ice cream in just three minutes.

WZZM 13's Lauren Stanton tested something similar called the Slushy Magic, which we did not give a good review.

Tonya Panchula, mom of 6-year-old Zane and twin 3-year-olds Everett and Taggert, helped test it out.

The ice cream cone-shaped container allows you to put crushed ice and salt in the bottom, then in the upper container, your ingredients for ice cream. You close the lid and shake for three minutes. Problem was, it ended up taking more than ten minutes of constant shaking before we had something that resembled ice cream. And what we did have, was about four spoonfuls of ice cream.

It was messy and the kids couldn't do all the shaking; parents have to take over to really make something happen. To Tonya, it just wasn't worth it. She said she'd rather get a full-sized ice cream maker and have the kids help, but then you'd have something to show for it when you're done.

The Ice Cream Magic sells for $9.99 and can be found at a number of retail stores, but Tonya says she wouldn't buy it.
