This year's parade, sponsored by Amway, has been canceled do to a lack of participation.
GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- Fireworks will light up the sky over downtown Grand Rapids this Fourth of July, but don't expect a holiday parade.
Organizers say the Grand Rapids Fourth of July Parade has been cancelled because not enough organizations have signed up to participate. The parade had been part of the Amway Fourth of July Family Fireworks Celebration for three years. However organizers say it competed with more than a dozen other area parades.
This year's Family Fireworks Celebration at Ah-Nab-Awen Park will include the swearing-in of 60 West Michigan residents becoming residents. The naturalization ceremony will begin at 6 p.m., followed by live music, family activities and the fireworks show at 10:30 p.m. All activities are free and open to the public.
