HOLLAND, Mich. (WZZM) - Burglars targeted five Holland homes Thursday night presumably because residents were away watching fireworks shows.

The Holland Department of Public Safety reports that there have been several residential burglaries over the past two weeks during late evening hours.  Five of those burglaries happened last night, two of which were in the 1200 block of Birdie Lane.  An attempted burglary also took place at about 11:15pm in the 1100 block of Birdie Lane, but the resident was home sleeping and was able to wake up and scare away the intruder.

The other burglaries from Thursday night were in the 300 block of West 17th Street, the 000 block of Cherry and the 000 block of West 21st Street.  Earlier burglaries took place on June 26th and June 29th.

Police do not have a description of a suspect to release at this time.  Anyone who knows anything about these burglaries is asked to call the DPS at 616-355-1100 or Silent Observer at 1-877-887-4536 or e-mail to policetips@cityofholland.com .
