GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WZZM) - The next leader of Mercy Health's Saint Mary's has been chosen.
Bill Manns most recently served as COO for Alameda Health System in Oakland, California. The system included three hospitals, 30 specialty clinics and a rehabilitation hospital.
Manns says he looks forward to building relationships in the community to strengthen Mercy Health Saint Mary's position as a health care leader, "The hospital has a high patient safety and quality rankings, a great staff, and excellent physician collaboration which is especially important as we enter this new world of healthcare reform."
Manns is a native of Michigan and received both his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University in Michigan. He and his wife have a 12 year old son.
Manns first day as President will be August 19th.
Former President and CEO Phil McCorkle announced his retirement last fall. He will continue to serve as President until Manns takes over.
