UPDATE AT 2:00 A.M. (WZZM) -- Firefighters say they have the fire under control at an Ionia County business.
Investigators say they believe the fire at the United Sign Company, 4821 W. Bluewater Highway, started in the rear of the business, but they are not sure what caused it.
Firefighters say when they arrived, flames were shooting out of the back of the building.
Crews expected to stay on scene until approximately 6 a.m. Wednesday.
Bluewater Highway (M-21) was closed while crews were on scene. They expected to reopen the highway by 3 a.m.
EASTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM) -- Multiple departments are responding to a fire at a business near Ionia.
The fire at 4821 West Bluewater Highway was reported to Ionia County Central Dispatch around 11:20 p.m. Tuesday.
Ionia Public Safety and crews from Saranac, Orleans and Berlin-Orange townships are assisting in fighting the fire.
Dispatchers say the building was once home to the old Bluewater Saloon, but is now listed as the United Sign Company.
