FILLMORE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM)-Allegan County sheriff's deputies say speed and alcohol appear to have played a role in the crash that killed a Holland man and injured two others.
The crash happened just before 6:30 a.m. Saturday off East Ottogan Street near 48th Street in Fillmore Township. Deputies say a 19-year-old Zeeland man was heading east on Ottogan when he veered off the road and crashed into a culvert.
A passenger, 20-year-old Brandon Ignacio-Caballero from Holland, was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene. An 18-year-old from Holland who was also in the vehicle was flown to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital with serious injuries. The driver was taken to Holland Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
