GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- The heat is not only tough on humans. It can be difficult for animals as well, including those at the zoo.
Zookeepers at John Ball Zoo helped some of the animals, including the chimpanzees, keep cooler by feeding them chunks of ice with their afternoon meal.
Even though most chimps are from Africa where temperatures are quite often higher than we have had this week, those at the John Ball Zoo have been here for years and have acclimated themselves to our climate.
