Workers evacuated after chemical leak in Walker

WALKER, Mich. (WZZM) -- Several workers at a manufacturing plant in Walker had to be evacuated after a chemical release inside the building.

It happened at 11:30 a.m. Friday at H.B. Fuller, on Kinney Avenue and Three Mile Road.

The company makes adhesives and sealants. According to the Walker Fire Department there was a release of some type of gas when two chemicals mixed together improperly.

Lt. Dean England, says, "A batch of chemicals were mixed together; omething went wrong with the batch and there was a release of chemicals inside the vessel. The relief valve did what it was supposed to do."

Workers at H.B. Fuller and a business across the street had to be evacuated. They were allowed back in about two hours later after the chemicals were cleaned up. No one was injured.
