LEIGHTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM) - A three-year-old child is alive after being revived by family and neighbors after a near drowning on Saturday evening.
The Allegan County Sheriff's Department reports they were called to Round Lake at about 6:30pm Saturday. They found the child had been pulled from the water and that family and neighbors had begun CPR. Deputies and medical personnel from the Leighton Township Fire Department and Thornapple Ambulance assisted with the resuscitation. The child was revived and taken to DeVos Children's Hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
Investigators say the family had been swimming in the lake earlier in the day and that the child and other children had been wearing life jackets. After swimming, they took off the life jackets and went fishing nearby. The child went missing while the others were fishing.
Investigators say that the incident was accidental.
