MONTCALM TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM) - A Sheridan woman is in critical condition after a collision between a four-wheel ATV and a motorcycle on Friday.
Elizabeth Hopkins, 20, was driving the ATV with a four-year-old passenger on West Holland Lake Road when she rear-ended a motorcycle that was pulling off the roadway onto a trail. The ATV rolled several times, ejecting her and her passenger. She suffered a severe head injury and was flown to Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids after being taken to the hospital in Greenville.
The four-year-old was taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries and released. The motorcycle rider declined medical treatment. None of the three people involved were wearing helmets and alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
Montcalm deputies say that Hopkins and the motorcycle rider, Thomas Cousinaw, Jr. are workers with Knuckle Busters Enduro Race which was held in the area on Sunday. They were said to be out making final checks on the course when the crash occurred.
