DETROIT (WZZM) -- A bus that departed from Grand Rapids, carrying nearly 50 Mexican immigrants accidentally ended up on the Ambassador Bridge to Canada.

That wrong turn resulted in the passengers being detained for hours Thursday.

According to the El Vocero's website, the bus was from the Hispanic Center of West Michigan. It left Grand Rapids and was heading to the Mexican Consulate in Detroit, but the driver missed the correct exit.

After 12 hours of waiting, the passengers were allowed to leave. However, those 41 people will have to appear in court because of their immigration status.
