WALKER, Mich. (WZZM) -- People are still reacting to Rep. Justin Amash who said recently he believes National Security Advisor Edward Snowden is a whistleblower, not a traitor.
Tuesday afternoon, Amash sat down with WZZM 13's Lee Van Ameyde to discuss what he meant.
"If he hadn't done what he did, which is to expose these programs, members of Congress would not have known about it and that's the bottom line," said Amash. "These are members of Congress who have worked on them for years and were not aware of the programs he is talking about, so we wouldn't have gotten in to this debate without his doing what he did."
Amash sponsored a bill to curtail the NSA's spying activities, it was defeated by seven votes.
Rep. Amash has been making national headlines with his views on the NSA, but does this mean he is thinking about running for the Senate?
WZZM 13 talked about that and other issues in a special interview which will air later this week.
