(WZZM) - WZZM 13's Jennifer Pascua & Alana Nehring spent some time out and about in west Michigan this past week.

Alana went surfing for the first time in Grand Haven.  Check out the video to see how she did.

Holland's Farmers Market will host a Salsa Showdown today.  Salsa making fun starts at nine, followed by the public salsa tasting at 11.  Contestants will have two hours to make three gallons of salsa on-site the morning of August 17 using complimentary tomatoes, peppers, onions and cilantro all provided by the Holland Farmers Market.  The public is then invited to taste the array of salsas (with unlimited tortilla chips) for just $3.00 and vote for their favorite in the people's choice competition.  The winner of the People's Choice competition will be awarded $100.

Jennifer also stopped by Theodore's for some unique taste creations: molecular food.  Chef Oscar Moreno says it's a fun way to see food differently.

Tomorrow's GR Now features local artist, Scott Rosema, who is a freelance illustrator for many big name comic companies.  He'll be at Celebration Cinema North to promote a charity called The Variety Club.

Finally, Jeff Eckart, founder of the Grand Rapids Mud Run is here to tell us all about the upcoming event.  It happens next Saturday from seven to three over at the Kentwood Community Church.  That's located at 1200 60th St. SE in Kentwood.
