DETROIT, Mich. (WZZM) -Police have identified the passsengers killed in an early morning crash in Detroit. They include Brian Kevin Kelly, 67, and his son Daniel Brian Kelly, 31, of Kentwood, and Brian Kelly's 18-year-old nephew Keeland Thane Johns from Grand Rapids.
The crash happened around 12:30 Sunday morning on the Lodge Freeway near Rosa Parks Boulevard. The crash shut down the northbound lanes of the road for over five hours.
Police say a Monte Carlo was speeding when it hit a Toyota Corolla with four people inside. The force of the impact flipped the Corolla, killing three West Michigan men. The fourth was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver and passenger of the other car were not injured.
Police say alcohol was also a factor in the accident.
