Michael Emory & Stevie Foehl
GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- Police arrested a Kent County man and woman in South Carolina on allegations they sexually assaulted a 1-year-old child.
Michael Emory, 25, and Stevie Foehl, 27 are behind bars, waiting to be brought to Michigan. In February, the couple lived at an apartment in Alpine Township where investigators say the one-year-old girl was sexually assaulted.
Undersheriff Jon Hess says the investigation started in Ottawa County where Michael Emory responded to a Craigslist ad from a 14-year old girl offering her babysitting skills. The two allegedly started a sexual relationship. When the girl's parents found out, they notified police. After obtaining a warrant, police searched Emory's home he shared with Foehl.
A computer was one of the items taken from the couple's apartment and investigators say that's where they found a disturbing video. They say both Emory and Foehl were seen participating in a sexual assault of a one-year-old girl.
Seasoned investigators said the video was difficult to watch.
"To a person, this is the worst, one of the worst CSCs they're had to work," said Hess.
Shortly after the investigation started in Ottawa County, the couple moved to South Carolina.
"This weekend we went and with help of the FBI task force in South Carolina, we were able to make the arrest and both are waiting extradition to Michigan," said Hess.
The investigation continues in Ottawa County. Forensic analysis of the computer is still being done and it's possible that more evidence could be found.
