KENT COUNTY, Mich. (WZZM) - A crash on U.S. 131 near the M-6 interchange left a woman and her daughter injured, when a semi rear-ended an SUV that was stopped on the highway.
The crash happened at 9:15 p.m. on Sunday, August 25 in the southbound lanes between M-6 and 54th Street.
A Ford SUV had stalled in the far right lane of the highway when a semi-truck crashed into the back.
The 49-year-old Whitehall woman who was driving the SUV is hospitalized in serious condition. Her four-year-old daughter was in the car as well. She was hospitalized, treated for minor injuries, and released. The semi-truck driver was not hurt.
Southbound US 131 was down to one open lane for about two hours after the crash.
Officers from the Michigan State Police, Rockford Post are investigating the accident. Speed, drugs, or alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash.
