LEE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM) -- Allegan County investigators are working to positively identify a man who died Saturday afternoon after asking for help.
Around 12:45 p.m. the man walked up to a home in the 100 block of 54th Street and collapsed. He was not carrying identification and no one in the area recognized him.
The victim is described as 5' 11" tall and weighing around 300 lbs. with dark hair that had some gray. Investigators say he had a Tasmanian Devil tattoo on his right forearm, a King Neptune tattoo and shield on his left forearm, along with two other tattoos.
After releasing the description, a man called authorities saying he recognized the tattoos and had previous dealings with the deceased man.
Authorities believe they now know who the victim is, but they are waiting for positive fingerprint identification from a Lansing hospital morgue where the man's body is being held.
Van Buren County Sheriff's deputies are trying to determine why the man died, but say there does not appear to be any suspicious circumstances. Investigators are also searching for next of kin and the deceased man's connection to the area.
Anyone with information on the man is asked to contact Allegan County Central Dispatch at (269) 673-3899.
