MT. PLEASANT, Mich. (WZZM) -- Mt. Pleasant Police are investigating the death of a Central Michigan University student in her off campus apartment.
Kelly Markatos, 22, was found dead her West Campus Village apartment around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Family members tell WZZM 13 Markatos had a quiet night Monday with her roommates in her apartment. They say she went to bed and her roommates found her in a sleeping position Tuesday morning.
Markatos' mother says Kelly did not have any known medical conditions. Police do not suspect foul play; an autopsy is expected.
Her father John said, "She had a heart of gold. We used to say that she was going to grow up broke because she gave everything away. She was very loving. A girl with a big heart."
Markatos was a public relations student and was a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity.

Central Michigan University is saddened to report the death of female student. According to Mount Pleasant Police, the CMU senior from Holland was found by her roommates this morning in the West Campus apartment they shared. No foul play is expected and police continue to investigate the cause of death.
CMU is providing grief counselors to assist roommates, family and friends. Our deepest condolences go out to all impacted by this tragic occurrence.
