Man dies of self-inflicted gunshot, home burns

UPDATE - THE DAILY NEWS - EUREKA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (THE DAILY NEWS) - A man is dead and police are investigating a  house fire Wednesday near Greenville.

Firefighters were dispatched at 7:52 p.m. to 11238 Baker Road in Eureka Township, according to Montcalm County Central Dispatch.

Family members of the homeowner who live nearby first spotted smoke at the residence and went to investigate. Upon arrival, they found the homeowner, a 35-year-old Greenville man, lying outside the home. The man was pronounced dead at the scene and is believed to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to the Montcalm County sheriff's office.
