GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- An elderly woman was severely beaten after a man broke into her house early Thursday morning.
The 77-year-old woman told police she was grocery shopping around 4 p.m. Wednesday and returned to her home in the 1100 block of Worden Street SE. There, a white man approached her and asked if she needed help loading her bags. The woman declined assistance.
She told officers she went to bed around midnight and awoke around 2 a.m. as she was being beaten by an unknown suspect. She called police around 9 a.m. when she regained consciousness.
