MUSKEGON, Mich. (WZZM) - Do you have stacks of sensitive paperwork that you do not know what to do with?

An event underway in Muskegon on Saturday morning is for county residents with that problem.

The free shred event runs until 2 p.m. at the Muskegon County Hall of Justice parking lot.

There you will find a large industrial paper shredder.

The county and city of Muskegon are working together to offer residents piece of mind when it comes to getting rid of all kinds of paperwork.

Ann Cummings, Muskegon City Clerk; "Your credit card bills, statements, offers for credit cards, bank statements you just have sitting there because you do not have time to shred. You know home shredders are slower. This is a great time, bring a box, load it up and bring it in. Watch it be shredded right there and protect your identity."

Each resident can bring up to 100-pounds of paper. The shredded paper will be recycled into new paper products.
