DORR TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM) -- Michigan State Police say a bright setting sun may have played a role in the crash that killed a motorcyclist from Allegan County.

The accident happened around 7:15 p.m. Thursday where 142nd Avenue intersects 26th Street. Troopers say the rider was traveling west on 142nd Avenue and didn't appear to see an SUV proceeding through the intersection. The vehicle and motorcycle collided.

Several people tried to revive the motorcyclist, but he died. The driver of the SUV suffered minor injuries.

Troopers are not releasing the names of either driver, but the motorcyclist was from Dorr.

Michigan State Police do not believe speed or alcohol played a role in the crash.
