GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- Hundreds of people showed their support for breast cancer patients by creating a giant pink ribbon downtown.
The group used pink umbrellas to create a 'ribbon of hope' in Ah Nab Awen park. It was one of two events Spectrum Health held Monday for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Susan Ford Bales, the daughter of former president Gerald Ford and Betty Ford, spoke at the 'ribbon of hope' event and carried an umbrella herself to honor her mother's legacy.
Also in the crowd, dozens of survivors of breast cancer.
"I'm a little teary. It always chokes me up to see the support and to see the people and the sisterhood of it all," said Kathi Mull, a four year cancer survivor.
An aerial photo was taken of the 'ribbon of hope.'
