GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WZZM)-Local marines are kicking off their Toys For Tots campaign.
Marines were stationed outside stores across West Michigan Friday. Customers may donate new, unwrapped toys at any Toys "R" Us or Babies "R" Us stores through December 8. Visitors can also make financial donations in store or online. All donations will stay within West Michigan.
"[People have been] very, very generous. It's very good to see people coming in and donating, filling up these boxes. We've also heard stories of people paying off layaways for... [other] people," said Jamie Wolfe, manager of the Toys "R" Us store on 28th Street.
Families in need have until November 22 to sign up to receive toys from Toys For Tots. Those interested should call 211 or the holiday hotline at (616) 459-2625.
