Saugatuck-Douglas merger fails

SAUGATUCK, Mich. (WZZM) -- A proposal to merge the governments of Saugatuck and Douglas has been stuck down by voters Tuesday night.

The proposal failed 418 to 650 votes. Below is how the votes broke down by city:

Saugatuck:

  • Yes: 192, (42%)
  • No: 265, (58%)

Douglas:

  • Yes 226, (37%)
  • No: 385, (63%)
