The Alliance for Health gathered nominees over three months before announcing the winners. They included Brent Garvin, who won the Life-Giving Hero award for using stem cells to cure two people of cancer.
As WZZM 13's Valerie Lego, who emceed the event, announced the award, Garvin was surprised by one of the people he cured.
