LANSING, Mich. (AP) - As deer hunters prepare for the beginning of Michigan's firearms season, state officials are reminding them to obey the rules and be careful.

Tens of thousands of people are expected to participate in the hunt, which begins Friday morning and ends Nov. 30.

The Department of Natural Resources says antlerless licenses are still available, and antler point restrictions are in effect for certain areas.

Hunters are reminded to wear orange clothing and heed limits on bait that can be placed in some locations.

The DNR website has a wealth of information on the hunt, including a county-by-county listing of places available to pursue deer on public land.  Click here for all the information - http://www.michigan.gov/deer

The department says it encourages hunters to get their deer checked at a local DNR office.  Also, add your hunting photos here - http://www.wzzm13.com/news/photo-gallery.aspx?storyid=273253
