ALLENDALE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM) -- An Allendale teenager is in the hospital after a deputy used a taser on him following a police chase.
It happened around 3 a.m. Friday near Allendale.
Investigators say the teenager nearly hit the deputy's cruiser at Lake Michigan Drive and 84th Avenue, leading to the chase. They say the boy crashed his car at Fillmore Street and 84th Avenue, then tried running away through a cornfield.
Authorities say the deputy used a taser on the teenager to get him into custody.
The boy suffered serious injuries and is being treated at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital.
Investigators say they are not sure if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the incident.
