(USA TODAY) - It's one of the more cringe-inducing moments from recent awards show memory.

During its pre-show, E! flashed what it dubbed a "fun fact" regarding one of TV's most popular stars: "Michael J. Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 1991."

Not surprisingly, the screen shot has gone viral.

UPDATE:

E! has issued an apology to The Hollywood Reporter:

"We regret the insensitive classification of Michael J. Fox's Parkinson's diagnosis during our Eonline (sic) live stream. We understand the serious nature of the disease and sincerely apologize."
