GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM)-- The Stone Wave is a ceramic dish that's made for microwave cooking. It's unique steam-release chimney and domed lid is supposed to make delicious dishes that could take as much as an hour in a conventional oven.
Sam Meyering, Reggie Green and Dominic Echenique from Kitchen Sage, a culinary leadership program in Grand Rapids, helped me put it to the test.
We all noticed how small the Stone Wave is. It fits in the palm of your hand, but don't let its size fool you. We made a three-egg omelete filled with bacon, spinach and other items in just 1:30. It tasted great and we couldn't believe how quickly it cooked, with no butter, oil or cooking spray necessary. It easily wiped out with no sticking.
We made a perfect poached egg in just seconds that slid onto a plate. We made French Onion Soup in a little over four minutes.
Our favorite was a chocolate souffle. In just 2:15, we made a dessert you might mistakenly think came from a restaurant.
We were impressed with the Stone Wave. It's perfect for a quick single meal or dessert and for only $10, we all thought it was worth it.
We've seen Stone Wave in places like Walgreens and Bed Bath & Beyond, but you can also order it online.
